Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther to make history and become the first-ever WWE Crown Jewel Champion at the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event. The American Nightmare ended up being the first superstar from the Rhodes family to win a championship on international territory, making history all over again.
However, the finish for the Rhodes-Gunther match wasn't seemingly appreciated much. An exciting match between both the world champions ended up with a roll-up pin from The American Nightmare, leaving The Ring General stunned. While some have disregarded it as a fair win, Cody Rhodes left the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the Crown Jewel Champion.
In a recent episode of the NotSam Wrestling podcast, former WWE personality Sam Roberts addressed the situation and stated that things ended well between both men. With a finish like that, WWE has left the door open for another match between them in the future.
"But it does, I think, leave it fairly open for the potential in the sense that, like, why was the RAW match between Gunther and Sami Zayn so important? Because Sami Zayn beat Gunther. So it's like Gunther has no blemishes except for this one. And eventually, whether it's at WrestleMania, whether it's a year from now, whether it's two years from now, because everything counts," said Sam Roberts (10:51 onwards)

During the podcast, former WWE interviewer Megan Morant also addressed the situation and stated that a rematch between both men is fairly possible. However, it might not happen anytime soon.
"Cody-Gunther round two happening anytime soon - I don't think so," said Megan Morant. (10:47 onwards)
What's next for Cody Rhodes?
The American Nightmare has strengthened his position as the face of WWE with his victory against Gunther at Crown Jewel. With his big victory, Rhodes must be looking for a new challenger for his Undisputed WWE Championship on SmackDown.
However, his feud with Kevin Owens might seemingly play in before he gets another title match. Rhodes and Owens' rivalry went on the back-burner recently to build to Crown Jewel and things getting back on track is quite a possibility. Time will tell what WWE has in store for Cody Rhodes next.
