The Head of WWE Creative Triple H announced a new championship for the Stamford-based promotion's female division last month. In a social media post, he revealed that a new Speed Women's Championship Tournament would start on September 4. The Game recently promoted an important match in the ongoing tournament.

The exclusive X (FKA Twitter) tournament started with eight superstars, involving former Women's Champions IYO SKY and Naomi. The two won their first-round matches and will square off in the first semi-final. SKY's stablemate Kairi Sane recently faced Elektra Lopez for a spot in the second semi-final.

Ahead of the match, Triple H took to his X account to send a message and promote the all-important clash between Sane and Lopez.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

"The race to crown the first-ever WWE Speed Women’s Champion rolls on… @KAIRI_official battles @elektralopezwwe for a spot in the Semifinals TODAY on #WWESpeed, 12pm ET / 9am PT exclusively on @X," he wrote.

Kairi Sane advanced to the semi-final of the WWE Speed Women's Tournament

The match with a three-minute limit started with Kairi Sane looking to use her speed and agility to gain the upper hand. It was, however, Elektra Lopez who used her strength to dominate the early stages.

Unfortunately, the Legado Del Fantasma member lost her momentum as the two performers traded failed pinfall attempts. Kairi Sane then hit her opponent with a series of moves before hitting The Insane Elbow for the win. Following the win, the former Women's Tag Team Champion advanced to the tournament's semi-final.

Kairi Sane will be joined by the winner of the first-round match between Piper Niven and Candice LeRae. The SmackDown Superstars will lock horns next Wednesday.

With both IYO SKY and Kairi Sane making it to the tournament's semi-finals, the two Damage CTRL members might face each other in the final to become the inaugural Women's Speed Champion. Interestingly, the two Japanese stars are also involved in a main roster program with the current Women's Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.
