WWE returns to the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for tonight's edition of Friday Night SmackDown. In addition to the already stacked lineup of the blue brand's roster, two champions from Monday Night RAW will be in the arena later tonight.
The names in question are Gunther and Bron Breakker. The two champions successfully defended their titles at the Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event. While The Ring General bested Damain Priest to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, Bron pinned Sheamus to extend his reign as the Intercontinental Champion in a triple-threat match featuring Ludwig Kaiser as the second challenger.
According to the official website of the Target Center, Gunther will compete against Damian Priest in a singles contest. Bron Breakker is also set to lock horns with Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio. Since WWE has not advertised either match, it will be interesting to see if the RAW Superstars clash during the show or in dark matches afterward.
Current WWE champion is set to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship
Gunther was involved in a highly engaging back-and-forth battle with Damian Priest at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. He won the match after interference from The Archer of Infamy's former stablemate Finn Balor.
On the red brand's show following the premium live event, The Judgment Day member confronted The Ring General, claiming that the champion owed him a title shot, as Balor took out Priest. The Imperium leader, however, turned him down and expressed his desire to compete with Dominik Mysterio instead.
After Gunther defeated the former NXT North American Champion, Finn Balor entered the squared circle to attack the 37-year-old. He nailed the latter with the Coup de Grace thrice. After the segment, it was announced that the inaugural WWE Universal Champion will take on Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title at Saturday Night's Main Event.
It will be interesting to see if Finn Balor can emerge victorious at the upcoming event and win his first singles title since 2022.
