World-renowned British boxer Tyson Fury has officially retired from professional boxing. The Gypsy King posted a social media update to make the announcement.

The 36-year-old bid adieu to the combat sport after 37 professional fights. Fury was undefeated till his 35th bout, having won 34 fights and drawn one against Deontay Wilder in 2018. However, the former WBC Heavyweight Champion lost the last two matches of his career to Oleksandr Usyk.

Interestingly, this is the second time Tyson Fury announced his retirement from professional boxing. He did the same in 2022 before returning to defend his WBC Heavyweight Title against Derek Chisora. Earlier today, Fury posted a video on his Instagram account to make the announcement.

“Hi everybody! I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side," he said.

In the caption, Tyson thanked everyone who helped him during his career and wished them a Happy New Year.

"Thanks its been a blast 💥 thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! happy new year 🥳. Jesus is king 👑 now & forever🙏," read the caption.

Tyson Fury has made a handful of appearances on WWE television, one of which saw him defeat Braun Strowman via countout at Crown Jewel 2019. However, the two shook hands the following week on SmackDown before taking out Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, who came out to challenge the duo.

Tyson Fury is open to returning to the WWE ring

Tyson Fury has often expressed his desire to be on WWE shows. One such instance saw him tease potential matches with Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre.

In an interview with Give Me Sport a couple of years ago, Fury claimed he hoped to make it to the second edition of Clash at the Castle. The former WBC Heavyweight Champion revealed his intentions to take the title off Roman Reigns (then-Undisputed WWE Universal Champion). He further teased wrestling The Scottish Warrior inside the squared circle.

"I’m hoping to get back in there soon. They’re doing Clash at the Castle Two soon. I think so. I’m looking at maybe getting back in there. I’m looking at taking that heavyweight title for sure. If Roman Reigns vacates or something, then maybe me and Drew can finally get that battle on.” [H/T: Give Me Sport]

Tyson Fury had already made his intentions clear about making appearances on WWE television. Now, after announcing his retirement from boxing, the Brit might be in for an extended run with the Stamford-based company.
