Roman Reigns is expected to return to WWE to feud with his cousin, Solo Sikoa, and his new-look Bloodline. A wrestling veteran thinks The 39-year-old could surprisingly align himself with a top tag team and a current champion.
ECW legend, Tommy Dreamer, discussed the possible scenarios for Roman Reigns' anticipated return on the Busted Open podcast. He suggested The Tribal Chief could form an unexpected alliance with his former rival, Cody Rhodes. Meanwhile, he also claimed the WWE Tag Team Champions, DIY, could join forces with Reigns and Rhodes against Solo Sikoa's group.
While The American Nightmare is currently involved in a feud with Sikoa and the new Bloodline faction, DIY was attacked by the group after their successful title defense against A-Town Down Under, last Friday on SmackDown. Dreamer claimed Rhodes could save Reigns from a beatdown while Randy Orton refuses to help the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
"If you think right off the bat, what if Cody goes to Randy, like if Roman gets his a** beat, even though Roman is the guy, Roman is getting his a** beat by four guys, Cody makes the save, that helps elevate Cody because he helped Roman. What if Randy says I'm not gonna help that guy. That guy put me on the shelf. I'm not gonna be here to support that guy. I'm here to have your back but not his," he said.

He also stated that DIY aligning with Rhodes and Reigns would elevate the tag team. Meanwhile, it would also help add another layer to the storyline before The Usos returned.
"And then you also think about elevating people, DIY, Cody, and Roman in a nice little feud with The Bloodline. It's gonna fracture and it's also somebody easily to beat, a member of DIY. And then you bring together Jimmy [and] Jey [Uso], all that stuff. I think there's a lot to take this to Royal Rumble," he added. [14:37 - 15:31]
Will Cody Rhodes have real-life heat with Roman Reigns when the latter returns?
Cody Rhodes is currently the top babyface in the Stamford-based company. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns is also expected to return from his break as a babyface.
On the Keepin' It 100 podcast, wrestling veteran Konnan addressed whether The American Nightmare would have a problem with the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion coming back to become the top babyface in the company.
"I think Cody's been in the business long enough and he's been the number-one guy for at least two years, right? Maybe three. And that he knows it's Roman Reigns. It isn't some Johnny come lately. [...] When Roman finally shows up. And he's going to be over and I think he's gonna be more over than Cody. And Cody's gonna have to understand, I had my run, I'm still one of the top guys, there's nothing wrong with being number two, a strong number two or 1A, and you've gotta give the guy his props," he said.
While Cody Rhodes would probably defend his title against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam, it would be interesting to see if Roman Reigns would return to confront his cousin at the premium live event as many expect.
