In the latest episode of SmackDown Live, Baron Corbin, one of the five members of the brand’s Survivor Series men’s team, apparently got injured. As a result of this, he was replaced by the show’s commissioner Shane McMahon in the blue brand’s team.
Since Corbin had refused to be part of a 6-man tag-team match involving all the men representing SmackDown Live at Survivor series, Shane pitted him in a match against a returning Kalisto instead. Before the match could even begin, Kalisto was viciously assaulted by Corbin.
The tables turned, however, when Corbin slipped and fell off the ring apron.

The former WWE United States champion Kalisto capitalised on the situation by smashing Baron Corbin’s knee against the steel steps with a drop-kick. As ‘The Lone Wolf’ lay in pain inside the ring, Kalisto delivered a frog splash on his apparently injured knee.
However, as it turns out, this was a ‘kayfabe’ injury as Corbin was seen back in action at a WWE live event in Cardiff this past Wednesday. The Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy winner faced off against Jack Swagger in a singles match and picked up a win over the ‘ All American American’.
This makes it quite obvious that Baron Corbin being taken off the SmackDown Live Survivor Series tag team due to injury was nothing but a part of the storyline. It is difficult to understand, though, why it was so important for Shane McMahon to be included in the team at the expense of a rising star like Corbin.
With just about a week left to go for the Survivor Series, this Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live may be able to give us a better idea about this drastic change.
