A massive WWE change was recently announced, concerning RAW's runtime. According to a veteran, this was one of the best decisions the company could have made.
Last week, it was confirmed that WWE RAW's episodes will be returning to the old two-hour format, as opposed to the current three-hour runtime starting from October 7, 2024. The announcement garnered different reactions from fans and critics, with Vince Russo being clearly pleased.
When discussing the topic on the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, Russo stated:
"Thank God, We thank God for that. We thank God for that." [From 0:35 onwards]
Furthermore, EC3 also added that the new format could lead to an hour of content being put up on YouTube.
"The way you can distribute content now, you don't need the third hour the Netflix deal is paying for. Like, to get more people, so that they have visuals. Not everything can be appointment Television. So in two hours you can like, 'I HAVE to watch it,' but with three hours you can like 'I'll watch...' You can like, flick in and out." [From 0:45 onwards]
EC3 believes WWE has a chance to change its format to include YouTube efficiently
Adding to his point, EC3 explained that if WWE did choose to provide additional content on YouTube, this would allow fans to tune in at their convenience.
Speaking on the same episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, the former NXT star and reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion stated:
"You can keep angles alive that don't necessarily fit in the two hours, but then if you want to, like, for diehard [fans] you can throw a 20 minute match on there. You know it's not gonna kill the loud crowd, but you can appease their market.." [From 02:38 onwards]
As of now, it remains to be seen how the change to WWE RAW will pan out down the line.
