On WWE NXT, we've seen multiple TNA talents bust through that "forbidden door" and make a huge IMPACT on the wrestlers and fans alike. Jordynne Grace and Ash By Elegance were the first two who crossed the line, leading to an NXT Women's Title bout with Roxanne Perez at Battleground.
Most recently, we saw TNA Legend and former X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian, as well as former TNA Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry, attempt to earn a shot at Trick Williams' NXT Championship. The King of Entrances has received heaps of praise from critics and peers alike, but CAMPAIGN Singh doesn't want anyone to forget about Kaz, either.
While speaking to Sportskeeda's Kevin Kellam, Singh was asked about the ongoing relationship with WWE NXT and TNA. Singh wanted to make sure that fans don't forget the moment Kazarian had.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Don't forget Frankie Kazarian was in there too. Frankie and I have a lot of respect for each other, and when I saw him on TV, I was equally happy as when I saw Joe Hendry or Jordynne [Grace] on the show. No disrespect to you or any other viewer, but they can't forget any other TNA talent that steps on that stage. Frankie's been there for a long, long time, and he deserves his flowers, too." While Joe Hendry got the massive pop and became a viral sensation for WWE, Frankie Kazarian managed to get to the final four of the battle royal. Kazarian nearly earned that title opportunity and, in a post-match rant online, blamed Hendry for getting in his head and throwing him off his game.
Campaign Singh talks possible TNA-WWE 2nd Generation Dream Match
These days, it's less of a forbidden door and more of a door frame, as WWE seems to be open to all kinds of partnerships and surprise appearances. When asked about any potential matchups he's looking for, Singh gave a name most probably weren't expecting.
"I don't wanna paint myself into a corner here and just mention only two names and only wrestle them if they come over. To answer your question in a fun way, I'd love to get in the ring with a guy like Lexis King. Our dads wrestled each other. As we were children we got to watch footage of our dads wrestling each other, and I think it would be awesome if we got to wrestle each other on the big stage here." [4:06-4:35]
Lexis King's late father, Brian Pillman, and Singh's father, Gama Singh, worked in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary. In fact, Pillman's final match with the promotion saw him face Gama in a six-man tag team bout.
There is quite a bit of history to uncover there, and something that fans could definitely sink their teeth into should a match come together.
