The new regime in WWE has helped change how former talents and personalities perceive the company. Jonathan Coachman recently opened up about his disappointing 2018 run with the global juggernaut and why he would be willing to entertain another return.

Jonathan Coachman began his WWE career in 1999 and became one of the more recognizable interviewers on TV, partly thanks to his interactions with The Rock.

Coachman held various on-screen roles in WWE before leaving for ESPN and living his dream of being a media personality. He eventually returned in 2018 as a commentator on RAW. However, his stint ended abruptly after he was replaced within months.

The 50-year-old appeared on The Angle Podcast and revealed he wasn't treated well the last time he dealt professionally with WWE. Jonathan Coachman admitted that he too made a mistake that contributed to the heat he attracted, as he explained below.

"When I went back, I'm not going to name names, but I was not treated very well. And whether it was the fact that I had already been there and they were a little bit jealous, I got put back in the commentary world. But I played into the 'Let's be the ESPN guy.' And I should not have done that. That was a mistake on my part because the best version of myself is 'heel' Coach. I'm great when I talk trash." [26:22 - 26:47]

World Wrestling Entertainment is a different promotion these days, with Triple H at the helm and there being no sign of Vince McMahon's influence on the product. Jonathan Coachman is also a changed man who figured out he wouldn't gain anything by being resentful.

Coach said that as things stand, he would be ready to work with WWE again, but there was a condition.

"Now, if I went back again because I would be open to going back now, but I would never go back and sit in the commentary chair and be a straightforward announcer. That's not who I am. That's not the best version of myself. So that's kind of why I said I'm done." [27:00 - 27:14]

"Certain people didn't want me there," says former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman

For someone who has been around for a very long time, Jonathan Coachman seemingly rubbed many people the wrong way within WWE when he signed another contract with them nearly six years ago.

The former interim general manager recalled certain individuals—who he didn't name—not wanting to work with him.

Coachman even explained the problems with having a three-man commentary team and why his approach to the setup might not have been ideal.

"Certain people didn't want me there. They didn't want to work with me. When you have a three-person announcer booth, it's like a three-man league of basketball. If you don't work together, it would come off as awful. And when I was there, I was in business for myself; that's what it was. They didn't want to work with me. So, I got shut out." [27:15 - 27:36]

Jonathan Coachman is a well-known face in pro wrestling, and considering his experience, he could be a potential name for Triple H to consider getting back.
