Vickie Guerrero is one of the most iconic WWE characters in history, and that goes without saying. However, she was not typically an in-ring performer despite occasionally wrestling for the company. In 2010, Vickie was slated to win the Women's Championship, according to former WWE Superstar Layla.

But this decision was backtracked at the last minute, and Layla wound up winning the belt instead. Vickie Guerrero and Layla had teamed up that year for WrestleMania 26 in a multi-woman tag match.

In a recent interview on the Heated Shenanigans Podcast, Layla recounted the moment she found out she was winning the Women's Title. It was retired WWE legend Fit Finlay who informed her about it. At the time, she could not believe it and assumed that the Irish wrestler was just messing with her:

"The actual plan was to give the title to Vickie. They were going to give the title to Vickie because Beth [Phoenix] was injured. So, that whole day, that's how we were planning," Layla recalled. "[Finlay] came by the ring and he goes, 'Hey, so you're winning the title tonight.' I was like, 'Oh, okay,' because he's always joking around. He goes, 'No, legit, seriously, you're winning the title tonight.' 'Who me? No.' I still didn't believe it, I thought he was just messing with me." [From 15:24 onwards]

Layla further articulated the experience, saying that even after winning the belt, it was too overwhelming to take in. She won the Women's Championship from Beth Phoenix in the latter's hometown. The 47-year-old called it the best thing to happen to her as well as the LayCool storyline.

Dominik Mysterio reached out to Vickie Guerrero in 2023

Vickie Guerrero's last dance was in June 2014 on WWE RAW, when she lost a unique stipulation match to Stephanie McMahon. Despite being a career heel, fans gave her a warm reception as she bid goodbye, using her late husband, WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero's gesture. Since then, Vickie has made sporadic appearances for the Stamford-based promotion.

In an interview with Cheap Heat last year, Dominik Mysterio revealed that he reaches out to Vickie Guerrero every now and again, especially when he began incorporating Eddie's style and name into storylines:

"Being able to talk to Vickie, it's been little things here and there," Dominik said. "She'll reach out and be like, 'I love what you're doing.' I'll reach out to her and go, 'Hey, hopefully this is okay.'"

'Dirty' Dom continues to use the late legend's moves and is often compared to the latter for their resemblance. Eddie's name was used for the young stalwart's rivalry with his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
