Vince McMahon oversaw WWE's creative direction for four decades before being replaced by Triple H in July 2022. In a recent live stream, Mansoor recalled how his former boss was determined to book Aliyah in a romance storyline.

Aliyah and Mansoor were released from WWE in September 2023. During her time with the company, Aliyah spent six years in NXT before moving to the main roster in October 2021. She is best remembered for defeating Natalya in a record 3.17 seconds and winning the Women's Tag Team Championship with Raquel Rodriguez.

On his insideMxM Twitch channel, Mansoor disclosed details about McMahon's unsuccessful plan to find an on-screen love interest for Aliyah.

"Vince really wanted Aliyah to be in a relationship with anyone. He was like, 'Who can we get to do a love angle with Aliyah?' And the writers were frantically going around, I remember this, they were frantically going around SmackDown going, 'Hey, can you do an angle with Aliyah where you're her boyfriend?' I remember there was a bunch of them going, 'My wife won't let me do that.' They were like, 'Ah, f**k,'" he said. [2:15:03 – 2:15:33]

Aliyah did not wrestle for several months before she was let go by WWE. She suffered an elevated first rib injury and AC sprain a year earlier, causing her to be removed from WWE television.

Mansoor on Vince McMahon's idea for Aliyah

Toward the end of Vince McMahon's creative tenure, Mansoor had just been repackaged alongside Mace as a Maximum Male Model. Aliyah also began to receive more television time after her main roster call-up.

According to Mansoor, McMahon wanted Aliyah to emerge from underneath the ring with a male wrestler during a Jinder Mahal match.

"One of the angles was there was supposed to be a table match on SmackDown and they wanted to have the wrestler, I think it was Jinder, pull out the table, and then on the table under the ring would be Aliyah and a guy making out. So Vince was like, 'Who can we get? Who can we get to make out with Aliyah?' Nobody. It was nobody," he said. [2:15:34 – 2:16:02]

Mansoor said he told the story to Dolph Ziggler shortly after Vince McMahon failed to find Aliyah a love interest. As someone who has been in plenty of on-screen relationships, Ziggler joked that he was surprised nobody asked him.
