Former WWE star EC3 recently spoke about Damian Priest missing out on a role in a Marvel movie. The star was reportedly supposed to be in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
During a recent interview with Chris van Vliet, Damian Priest revealed that he was supposed to be cast as Namor in the movie. The star detailed that he had the role in hand, and then it was taken away. He made it clear that it was not taken away by Marvel and suggested it had something to do with WWE.
During the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 detailed that Vince McMahon was possibly uninformed about many things in modern pop culture. He felt the former Chairman didn't understand the impact of Black Panther for Damian Priest.
The former WWE star recalled that the company had a similar sarcastic attitude when Batista auditioned for Guardians of the Galaxy, only to later realize that the movie was a blockbuster hit.

"You know how the rumors or the truth how like out of touch Vince McMahon would be with so many things that are modern in pop culture. I mean, Vince would know, but does he see, 'Black Panther, what?' and just like not understand the Marvel aspect. I think when Batista went to Guardians of the Galaxy, didn't WWE kinda like went, 'Yeah, all right, whatever dude, that's gonna work.' And then, it did." [From 5:50 onwards]

Surprisingly, Damian Priest didn't get the opportunity when other stars such as The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, and Batista were successful wrestlers while also working on movies.
Recently, Drew McIntyre also played a cameo in The Killer's Game, which also features Batista. It will be interesting to see WWE's stance on its stars working on other projects outside the company in the future.
