A few months after his emphatic return at WWE Day One, Jinder Mahal was released by WWE. Following his exit from the company, The Modern Day Maharaja has received an outcry of support from fans and peers alike. Despite not having much of an impact in recent times, Mahal was a beloved figure in the locker room, and a great talent to boot. Even former WWE writer Vince Russo was left astounded by his release.
Speaking on his podcast The Brand, Russo lauded Jinder Mahal for his ability. The former WWE writer expressed his disbelief and even wondered how certain other superstars remain in WWE while Mahal was let go. While he did name a few names, one that stood out, is five-time champion Johnny Gargano. In particular, he could not fathom how WWE values Johnny over the former WWE Champion.
"He's [Jinder Mahal] been healthy for a while, and he has not gotten hurt within the last couple of years. So then we find out Jinder has been let go with the guy with the beautiful beard. And then I'm freaking watching RAW, and I'm looking at DIY, and I'm like, 'Johnny Gargano is more valuable to your company than Jinder Mahal?'" said Vince Russo. [1:50-2:20]
As Vince Russo later stated, Jinder has an incredible physique, while also possessing great skill on the mic. He may no longer be with WWE, but one cannot help but feel that he will be back inside the ring sooner rather than later.
Jinder Mahal confirmed that he is not done with pro wrestling
Jinder Mahal has been a great representative of the 1.4 billion Indians in the squared circle. And while it's unfortunate that he has been released by the Stamford-based promotion, the former WWE Champion enjoyed every step. Sharing a video on TikTok, The Modern Day Maharaja thanked everyone for their support following his release.
Despite leaving WWE, Mahal has no plans of leaving pro wrestling entirely. The 37-year-old confirmed that there are still plenty of dream matches he wishes to have, and that he will make them happen. Be it in India, Japan, Canada, or anywhere else in the world, Jinder is ready and will be returning to the ring very soon.
It's great to know that Mahal still has a passion for pro wrestling. Currently, he is waiting out his 90-day non-compete clause. And once it runs down, fans will be excitedly waiting to see him back in the ring, no matter where that may be.
