Drew McIntyre has had his sights set on CM Punk ever since The Best in the World returned to WWE in November 2023. Vince Russo, the promotions's former head writer, recently explained why an alliance between The Scottish Warrior and The Unholy Union could be a good idea.
Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn have held the Women's Tag Team Championship since dethroning Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on June 15. Since then, the Scottish duo have struggled to receive regular television time.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws show, Russo spoke about CM Punk's wife, AJ Lee, possibly returning to WWE. If that happens, he thinks McIntyre should recruit Dawn and Fyre to take on the three-time Divas Champion, and in the process elevate the duo's presence.
"If AJ Lee comes in on her own and then Drew kinda uses these two as hitwomen, that can elevate them," Russo said. "That can definitely elevate them because right now they're the tag champs and they're not even on the radar. So Drew could elevate them, bro." [13:23 – 13:46]

Latest update on CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre
WWE SummerSlam will be held in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3. It has been speculated for several months that CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre will take place at the event. However, based on the July 15 episode of RAW, it remains unclear when the much-anticipated match will occur.
RAW General Manager Adam Pearce offered McIntyre the chance to face CM Punk at WWE's Biggest Party of the Summer. In return, the authority figure wanted The Scottish Warrior to apologize to two referees he'd attacked at Money in the Bank.
McIntyre refused to issue an apology, prompting Pearce to inform him he remains suspended. At the time of writing, the SummerSlam match has still not been made official.
