John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) did not hold back while discussing Vince Russo in a recent Something to Wrestle podcast episode. Russo heard the WWE Hall of Famer's comments and believes he made several incorrect statements.

Russo was WWE's head writer in the late 1990s when JBL wrestled for the company as Bradshaw. According to JBL, Russo came up with "the worst ideas in the history of wrestling." He also accused the former TNA, WCW, and WWE writer of making wrestling promotions go bankrupt or out of business.

Speaking to host Dr. Chris Featherstone on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing With Russo, Russo fact-checked JBL's remarks about his time in the wrestling industry:

"Real simple, guys. I worked at three companies: WWE, WCW, TNA. Did any of those three companies go bankrupt? Er, no. WCW sold their company to WWE. Did TNA go out of business? Last I looked, TNA is still in business 12 years after I left the company, Chris, so those are mark comments made by a mark to get over with the mark crowd. Going forward, I am not gonna waste my time with people like JBL and comments like this." [5:06 – 5:52]

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

Vince Russo on why JBL criticized him

John Bradshaw Layfield has appeared in several wrestling promotions in recent months, including AAA, MLW, and TNA.

According to Vince Russo, the former WWE Champion likely decided to discuss their animosity because he wants to be popular with fans:

"If it's that important for them to be part of the wrestling business and get over with the marks, bro, I hope you accomplish all that. If you think for one second you're gonna get me mad or you're gonna get me p****d off and it's gonna cause me to pop off on you, you're mistaken, bro. That is so far in my rear-view mirror because I don't need wrestling, I don't need to get over with the mark crowd of 2025, I don't need to be burying people to be the cool cat in the room. So, whatever, JBL." [5:52 – 6:29]

In the same episode, Russo addressed whether he could return to TNA or WWE as a writer one day.
