Vince Russo was a WWE writer in the late 1990s before joining WCW and TNA. John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) recently took several digs at Russo's career in the wrestling business, prompting the veteran writer to fire back.

On Something to Wrestle, JBL said Russo created "the worst ideas in the history of pro wrestling." The former WWE Champion also described the 63-year-old's career as an "abysmal failure" and accused him of bankrupting wrestling companies.

Vince Russo responded to JBL's comments on the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing With Russo alongside host Dr. Chris Featherstone. He called the WWE Hall of Famer a "mark" and vowed to stop talking about these topics in 2025:

"2025, I got a New Year's Resolution," Russo said. "If you are a wrestling mark, I'm not gonna acknowledge anything you say anymore. If you're in your mid-40s to late 40s to 50s to 60s to 70s and you still wanna be part of the wrestling game, you're a mark. JBL is a mark, and in 2025 I'm not gonna address any more mark comments. I'm not gonna address JBL comments. I'm not gonna address Eric Bischoff comments." [From 03:18 – 03:59]

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

Why do JBL and Vince Russo have heat?

In 1998, Vince Russo devised the idea to pit WWE stars against each other in the Brawl for All shoot-fighting tournament. He has repeatedly said the concept came about after JBL claimed to be the toughest guy in the locker room. However, the former APA member recently said the story is untrue and accused Russo of being a liar.

Elaborating on JBL's criticism of his writing, Russo explained why the 58-year-old is a "mark" for remaining in the wrestling industry:

"45 is the cut-off date. If you're 45 or older and you still wanna participate in the wrestling game, unless you're broke, if you're broke I totally, totally get it. If you're broke and you need a pay check, I totally understand that. If you're well-off and you still wanna be a part of the wrestling game from 45 on, that's because you're a wrestling mark." Russo added that JBL probably criticized him because he wants to be popular with wrestling fans and get another job in the business.
