Vince McMahon is undoubtedly one of the most controversial promoters of all time in the pro wrestling industry. He is widely considered the greatest booker in the world of wrestling, and his contribution to the industry is unmatchable.
Despite officially cutting all ties with the company, Vince McMahon's name is still on the lips of fans. The main reason behind the buzz around his name is his ongoing lawsuit with former WWE employee Janel Grant.
Vince McMahon’s legal troubles seem never-ending as he has now found himself in another lawsuit in which a man named Leland Owens has filed a lawsuit against him, his daughter Stephanie McMahon, and the Stamford-based company for stealing his ideas unethically.
According to a report by PWInsider, on September 9, 2024, Leland Owens filed a lawsuit against WWE, Vince, Linda McMahon, and Stephanie McMahon at the Yakima County District Court. The lawsuit claims the company owes him a $100,000 check that he was promised and was not paid, and Linda used her role as 'Senator' to cover it up. This is not true as Linda was never a Senator, as she ran for the position twice but lost both times.

The lawsuit also alleges that Vince McMahon and his daughter Stephanie disguised themselves as agents and tried to steal his ideas. Although the suit has not revealed what ideas were actually stolen from Owens, he has even claimed that he was put in a contract with former champions Sasha Banks and Daniel Bryan.
Leland Owens’s previous lawsuit against WWE
This is not the first time that Leland Owens has filed a suit against the company. On September 3, 2024, he filed a case against WWE and UFC, in which he claimed he had had a verbal agreement with the company where he was promised to get paid in return for his ideas.
He has also claimed that after Stephanie McMahon made comments about his daughter, the company sent ex-employees Daniel Bryan and Sasha Banks with “hush money” to settle the conflict. However, the key point to note is Owens has not provided any concrete proof of his claims. He has also said he used to share his ideas with Triple H, Banks, and Bryan through Instagram.
World Wrestling Entertainment or any of the names involved in the lawsuit has not responded to the claims as of now. It will be interesting to see how far this case will go before any decision is made. Meanwhile, fans are waiting for the documentary about Vince McMahon, which will be released on Netflix this week.
