Reigning World Tag Team Champions War Raiders honored a former collegue, who recently passed away, on Monday's episode of RAW. Erik and Ivar paid tribute to Jax Dane, a one-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Dane was a veteran pro wrestler who made his debut in 2009, making a name for himself on the independent circuit. He mainly performed for the National Wrestling Alliance, but also had stints at Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling.
On December 25, Dane passed away at the age of 48 due to complications from the heart attack he suffered the previous month. He once teamed up with the War Raiders when they were still known as War Machine to challenge The Kingdom for the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles.
In a post on X (fka Twitter) the official account of NWA gave a shoutout to the World Tag Team Champions for paying tribute to Jax Dane. Erik and Ivar wore a black armband with Jax written on it during their six-man tag team match with Damian Priest against The Judgment Day.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Before teaming up with Ivar, Erik was in a tag team with Jax Dayne in NWA. They were known as The Path of Resistance, winning the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Championship once in 2012.
Ivar opens up about War Raiders' feud with the Street Profits during the pandemic
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Ivar was asked about the War Raiders' storyline with the Street Profits at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was criticized by some fans back then because the supposedly serious team of Erik and Ivar were doing comedy bits.
However, Ivar told CVV that he was proud of their work with Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins despite being out of their element.
"I can watch it back, I see memories of it and stuff, or just randomly running the fans. It’s funny because I’ve heard a lot of people online talk trash about that stuff, never one to my face. But I was proud of the fun, comedic stuff that we did," Ivar said. [H/T 411 Mania]
With their tag title win on December 16, the War Raiders ended their five-year long drought since their first championships on the main roster.
