WWE Superstars always stay in their character whenever they are on TV. There are, however, instances where they have often stepped out of their on-screen personas.

Remember when Randy Orton broke character to console Shane McMahon's kids when the latter got injured? At Survivor Series 2016, Team SmackDown took on Team RAW in a five-on-five elimination match. Shane McMahon, who was on Team SmackDown, decided to deliver a Coast-to-Coast on RAW's Roman Reigns, but the former Big Dog countered the move with a Spear, knocking Shane out. Randy, who was a heel at the time, went to Shane McMahon's children at ringside and consoled them as Shane was stretchered out.

In another instance, on the October 22, 2018, episode of RAW, Roman Reigns came out and announced that he was suffering from leukemia and that he had to relinquish his Universal Championship. He spoke as Joe Anoa'i and talked about his struggles. It was the first time that fans saw him out of character. A few months later, Roman came back to WWE with the good news that he was in remission.
