William Regal primarily returned to WWE because of his son Charlie Dempsey, leaving AEW with more media coverage than he would've preferred. On NXT in the ECW Arena this week, he had a tense interaction with his son.
William Regal hasn't been the best father on NXT Television. NXT Heritage Cup winner Charlie Dempsey has held the trophy twice, winning it from current North American Champion Tony D'Angelo. Last week, he was in an odd position as Lexis King, the son of the late Brian Pillman, was taken under Regal's wing. The veteran advised Lexis King to take his brass knuckles, but he didn't, and Charlie Dempsey picked up the win.
This week on NXT, Charlie didn't look too happy at the sight of his father. William Regal asked him something simple that made Dempsey look uncomfortable. Regal first said that Lexis King "isn't his father's son" and asked Charlie Dempsey - "Are you?"
He would then tell the rest of the No Quarter Catch Crew stable that there's an opening in the tag team division and an opportunity for them.

This likely means Myles Borne and Tavion Heights could be in pursuit of the gold. As for Charlie Dempsey, he might be staying his course in his singles run.
After Regal went away, Wren Sinclair, who couldn't seem to read the room, simply remarked in awe of what a father-like figure Regal was. She seemed unaware of the veteran's intentions.
It's going to be interesting to see how this story plays out.
