Lex Luger spent a combined 11 years in WCW during his 21-year wrestling career. In an exclusive interview, The Total Package revealed that matches involving Hulk Hogan and Sting were among his favorites with the company.
On May 19, 1991, Luger and Sting unsuccessfully challenged The Steiner Brothers for the tag titles in a memorable match at SuperBrawl I. Six years later, he beat Hogan for the world title in another classic bout on the August 4, 1997, episode of Nitro.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Luger mentioned both matches when asked to recall his best in-ring battles:
"We had a tag match with The Steiners at the first SuperBrawl I really loved. It got Match of the Year, I think, in your magazine. That stands out. Obviously, Nitro when I got the world title with Hulk Hogan, live on Nitro. That was a big one." [From 01:25 – 01:42]
In the video above, Luger also addressed Sting's AEW retirement and what he thinks about the Bill Goldberg and Bret Hart controversy.
Lex Luger on Ric Flair's WCW impact
Between 1986 and 2000, Lex Luger shared the ring with Ric Flair more than 200 times. They fought at several high-profile events, including Starrcade in 1988 and 1989.
Reflecting on The Nature Boy's career, Luger only had good memories of working with the 16-time world champion.
"Ric brought out the best in everybody. I was just thrilled to have hundreds of matches with him. My gosh, one of the best ever. If there was a Mount Rushmore [of wrestlers], it would be hard to leave Ric off, for sure." [From 07:15 – 07:29]
Luger also gave an immediate response when asked to reveal which wrestler should induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame one day.
