The New Day are undoubtedly one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history. However, there was one thing that they all hated during their run in the company.
Big E has been sidelined with an injury for nearly two years, so it's just Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods who are carrying the team right now. Unfortunately, this may not be the case for very long, as the two stars have had issues with each other for weeks, and it seems like they might split up soon.
All three members of The New Day were featured on the latest edition of WWE Break It Down, and they revealed that they hated their debut attire. They wore matching blue gear, and admitted that it was horrible.
"So this is our original gear. We don't care for it. It did not hold up very well. This was our only set of gear that has not been designed by the man, the myth, the legend, Jonathan Davenport, our dear, dear friend. Look at us. This is horrible, man. What an awful set of gear. It's real bad. You know what, though? Being that we've had some of the greatest gear of all time to start out with the garbage. Yeah. Really left us only with only up to go. This is true. This is strategic, right? We did this on purpose. It was a very easy choice. Well, we had to pick between one and two things to either put it in the garbage or in the trash," they said. [0:23 - 0:56]
The New Day paid tribute to Brodie Lee with their gear
After Brodie Lee passed away in 2020, The New Day had a special attire made to pay tribute to the former Intercontinental Champion. They then auctioned off the gear and donated the money to charity.
Big E looked back on it and spoke about how meaningful it was.
"This gear is really meaningful. Obviously, we did this for Royal Rumble during the pandemic to honor a beloved brother, Luke Harper aka Brodie, a man that we all loved and knew very dearly. He had just passed the day after Christmas. Johnny did an incredible job here cuz I didn't know exactly what we wanted to do with the gear, but he took elements of many of Brodie's characters over the years," said Big E. [10:25 - 10:55]
The New Day are nine-time tag team champions in WWE, making them one of the most successful teams of all time.
