The Attitude Era in WWE featured several iconic factions that went mainstream and left a lasting impact on younger generations. Among them, D-Generation X was arguably the most influential.
During a recent appearance on the Roommates Show podcast, Triple H, a key member of the legendary group, discussed DX's influence during the Attitude Era. He shared a humorous story from a recent Netflix event, where members of the media approached him and admitted they often faced detention in school for mimicking DX's infamous "suck it" gesture and crotch chops.
"So, we were at this 'lunch and learn' they call it for Netflix yesterday in Los Angeles. All this media there, and all this stuff, and probably like six different people from media, like high-level media people, came to me and were like, 'Man, I wanted to come over here and say suck it to you so bad and like do the crotch chop. I'm probably too old to be doing that now, but just so you know, I got my first detention because I did it in school.'"
Triple H frequently jokes with Shawn Michaels about how they "ruined a generation of kids" who imitated them.
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
"And it was like six different people. I thought, like, Shawn [Michaels] and I laugh about it all the time, like, 'Yeah, we ruined a generation of kids that were just constantly in trouble for doing what we were doing,'" Triple H said. [4:04-4:40]
Former WWE Champion recently talked about sharing a special moment with Triple H
Kevin Owens has proven to be one of WWE's best signings in recent years. His Universal Championship win in 2016 remains a standout moment to this day. On that occasion, Triple H betrayed Seth Rollins, allowing Owens to capture the title.
Reflecting on this iconic moment, Owens recently revealed that winning the Universal Championship was particularly special because he got to share the moment with Triple H. He said that The Game was instrumental in bringing him to WWE.
The Prizefighter will be in action at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend. He will be facing Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
