"We didn't talk" – Matt Riddle says Bret Hart ignored him and Damian Priest (Exclusive)

Matt Riddle was a huge fan of Bret Hart as a child. However, in an exclusive interview, The Original Bro revealed how his opinion of the two-time WWE Hall of Famer changed after a disappointing WrestleMania encounter.

Riddle worked for WWE between 2018 and 2023. While Hart rarely appears on WWE programming these days, he occasionally attends high-profile premium live events like WrestleMania.

Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter and host Dr. Chris Featherstone recently spoke to Riddle at WrestleCon in Cleveland. The former United States Champion referenced Hart blaming Bill Goldberg for his early retirement. He also reflected on his own history with The Hitman:

"That's also another reason why I'm not a huge fan [of Goldberg]," Riddle said, referring to Goldberg injuring Hart. "Big Hitman fan. I will say this, though, big Hitman fan growing up, right? Not happy with Bill with what he did, right? But then I met Bret at a WrestleMania, and I was at catering. If you've ever been, it's pretty nice, you know? So I'm at catering, I'm enjoying it, and I get a table with Bret Hart and I'm like, 'Oh, this is cool.' I'm not gonna be a super mark, but I'm gonna ask a couple of questions, it's The Hitman." Matt Riddle was seated alongside his long-time friend Damian Priest at the event. According to the 38-year-old, Hart ignored both him and the original Judgment Day member:

"Bret wouldn't even respond to me or my friend Damian Priest at the time because we were sitting next to some pretty attractive ladies," Riddle continued. "[Bret Hart] asked them about their work rate, this, that, and the other, you know? Didn't ask me and Priest a single [question], you know? We didn't talk." [1:04 – 1:21]
