WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has shared that the way TNA wrestler Joe Hendry was booked on NXT this week raised a red flag. He feels that the latter being eliminated first in the battle royal does very little for him and TNA.
This week's episode of NXT kicked off with a 25-man battle royal to determine who will challenge Trick Williams for the title. The bout was won by Je'Von Evans. Two wrestlers from TNA made surprise appearances. Frankie Kazarian and Joe Hendry were the two names who went through the Prohibited Portal. The former eliminated the latter, as they were both rivals in TNA.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray questioned what Joe Hendry and TNA gained from the 36-year-old wrestler being the first person eliminated from the battle royal. However, he's hopeful that WWE can still do more with Hendry.
"He gets in the ring, he gets thrown out first. What did that do for Joe Hendry? What did that do for TNA? If that's all we got from Joe Hendry, at least he got the big music and entrances, they spotlighted him. But the last thing we see on social is Joe and Shawn. Just that alone gives me hope that they can do more with Joe Hendry and 'NXT' down the line. But it's the protection of TNA talent that ... has raised a red flag with me," said Bully Ray. Joe Hendry wants to face WWE Superstar CM Punk
The Voice of the Voiceless is one of the biggest names in WWE right now, and many people would love to share the ring with him. One of them is Joe Hendry.
During an interview on the Gabby AF podcast, the TNA wrestler expressed interest in sharing the ring with CM Punk.
"I am going to throw out one other name: CM Punk. So, CM Punk and I didn't talk on the phone, but we have spoken, and I told him, 'I admire his work, and I hope that we cross paths one day,'" Hendry said.
There's a big chance that WWE fans will get to see more of Joe Hendry on NXT, as he was involved in a backstage segment with Shawn Michaels this week.
