WWE Bash in Berlin kicked off with Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed Championship against Kevin Owens. The fans in attendance were split between the two babyfaces.

Following his successful title defense against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes demanded that The Prizefighter face him for the title. Despite the latter's initial hesitation, the champion and SmackDown Manager Nick Aldis talked Owens into the title match for Bash in Berlin.

Rhodes and Owens put on a back-and-forth contest to open the show. Towards the end of the match, KO teased a heel turn by taking advantage of the champion's bad knee but decided against it. The bout eventually ended with the former AEW star hitting the Cross Rhodes for the fourth time to retain the title.

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

After the match, a disappointed Owens embraced his opponent and on-screen friend. The fact that The Prizefighter did not turn heel despite the tease did not go well with many fans. Several X users were upset with WWE deciding against the former Universal champion turning heel.

During the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa claimed he would go after whoever wins the title at Bash in Berlin. Now that Cody Rhodes has retained his championship, it remains to be seen if Sikoa will face The American Nightmare in a title match again after losing to the latter at SummerSlam.
