After several years in the promotion, Baron Corbin was recently released from WWE. He has now made a heartbreaking revelation in his response to Kurt Angle.
Baron Corbin was part of the WWE roster for several years. While he was never the company's top guy, it wasn't for a lack of effort. Corbin underwent several gimmick changes over the years and he was involved in several notable storylines during his time in the promotion. But he seemingly could never get over and establish himself as the top guy in the company.
One of his most notable storylines involved WWE legend Kurt Angle which took place between 2018 to 2019. Corbin competed against Angle in a singles match for the first time on the January 28 episode of RAW and came out on top. Over the next few months, the two continued their feud which culminated in a match at WrestleMania 35. This was also Kurt's retirement match.
Baron Corbin picked up a surprising win over the Olympic gold medalist. However, this win failed to catapult Corbin to new heights and he found himself floundering on the main roster before his eventual release from the company earlier this month.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
During a recent interview, Kurt Angle called Corbin "underrated" and felt disappointed that nothing happened with him after the WrestleMania 35 win even though he also won the King of the Ring tournament. Angle also felt his retirement was for nothing since it didn't boost Corbin's career.
Corbin responded to Kurt Angle on social media, saying that he wished he had become world champion so that he could pay honor to what Angle did for him.
"To be fair, that’s one of the reasons I wish I had become world champ! It would paid honor to what Kurt did for me. I will forever appreciate it and wish I could have done more to make it worth it for him."

Kurt Angle opens up about Baron Corbin's WWE release
Baron Corbin wrestled in WWE from 2012 to 2024. During this time, The Lone Wolf competed against some of the biggest stars in the industry and accomplished a lot. He is a former United States Champion and won the Money in the Bank ladder match, and the King of the Ring tournament. However, some felt he couldn't get over with the fans.
After a disappointing run on the main roster, Corbin moved back to NXT for a couple of months before he was called up again. However, WWE had no further plans for him and opted not to renew his contract earlier this month.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone, Corbin's old rival Kurt Angle said that he felt that he lost his retirement match against the former for nothing since they didn't push him after the win.
"For me, it makes me feel like I did that for nothing. It’s not like, ‘Sc**w you, Angle,’ but it kinda is. I thought they were gonna run with the kid; I thought they were gonna make him one of the top-tier guys, and he was on his way," the Hall of Famer commented. [From 13:40 to 14:01]
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Baron Corbin now that he is no longer part of the WWE roster.
