Former pro-wrestler who later became an actor, Scott L. Schwartz, has passed away. The 65-year-old met his untimely demise on November 26, 2024. He was also a renowned stuntman in Hollywood and called himself ‘Hollywood’s Ultimate Bad Guy.’ However, he is being remembered by the people he worked with as a true gentleman.
WWE Hall of Famer Walter ‘Killer’ Kowalski trained Scott L. Schwartz. He wrestled in several promotions in the Northeast region under the ring name “The Israeli Commando” Joshua Ben-Gurion and Giant David. Entering the world of pro wrestling also allowed him to travel overseas and visit Europe and South Africa.
Scott L. Schwartz featured in several films, and his 6’10” stature allowed him to play strong villainous characters. This includes his role as “Bulldog The Bruiser” in Ocean’s Eleven, and he later appeared in Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen as well. Interestingly, he has also worked in The Scorpion King, which starred The Rock as the lead actor.
Paying tribute to him, WrestleReunion promoter and former referee Sal Corrente said:
“For the pro wrestling and acting community. I just saw that former wrestler Scott Schwartz who wrestled as The Giant David many years ago has passed. Scott has been an actor in LA for about 30 years. I would run into him out there at events from time to time. He was an all-around good guy, a Gentleman Giant. We were on shows for Mark Tendler together back in the day. Absolutely a guy gone way too soon. He always seemed to have a big booming smile that went along with his giant size.”
As the pro wrestling world and Hollywood mourns his passing, we hope his family has the strength to cope with the unfillable void he has left.
