Sportskeeda Senior Editor Bill Apter recently spoke about Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore handling commentary duties on WWE SmackDown this week. The duo will be the announcement team on the blue brand moving forward.

Tessitore made a name for himself in the college football circuit, announcing major games with his unique sportscaster delivery behind the microphone. He joined the RAW commentary team in September 2024. After RAW's Netflix premiere this past week, Joe and Barrett will now announce the action on the blue brand.

This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Apter praised Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore's commentary team. The veteran journalist pointed out that Joe's unique delivery during commentary reminded him of WWE legend Mean Gene Okerlund.

"I love that Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore are doing commentary. I mentioned this before that Joe has kind of like a rhythm, or a voice like, not that it's bombastic, but kind of reminds me of Mean Gene Okerlund quite a bit at times. Do you ever get that feeling too? He's got that delivery." [2:28 onwards]

WWE has been known to change up its commentary team occasionally to keep things fresh.

While Tessitor and Barrett manage announcing duties on SmackDown, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee will be behind the mic on Monday Night RAW. Other special announcers, such as Jesse Venture, may continue appearing at special events.
