A wrestling legend wrestled his last match today and has hung up his boots. The star's time in the ring has finally come to an end.
Earlier this year, on March 31, 2024, Akitoshi Saito won the World Heavyweight Championship at an event promoted by Pro Wrestling Zero1. Over the course of his career, he had become a legend and one of the best stars in the world of tag teams, but this was the first time he won a singles title. Soon after this, he dropped the title to Go Shiozaki and then announced that he would be retiring at the end of the year on November 17.
The star finally wrestled his last match at a Pro Wrestling NOAH event. He faced Naomichi Marufuji. Saito went out on his back in the fashion of stars putting others over in their last match. He spoke to the fans after the match and looked up to the sky before getting his flowers and leaving the ring for one last time after his 33-year in-ring career.
With this match, Akitoshi Saito's legendary career is now at an end after more than three decades of in-ring action. It remains to be seen if he starts working in a backstage capacity.
