Uncle Howdy is being heavily teased in recent weeks

A wrestling legend recently stated that he wasn't a fan of the Uncle Howdy gimmick and warned WWE that it may not pan out the way they want it to. The legend in question is Dutch Mantell, who expressed his skepticism about the storyline.

Uncle Howdy was a character immortalized by the late great Bray Wyatt before his untimely passing last year. Over the last few weeks, WWE has dropped many hints of reviving the gimmick, with QR codes popping up during their programming. It has also been reported that Wyatt's brother, Bo Dallas, would lead the stable with Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross, Erick Rowan, and Dexter Lumis joining him.

On a recent episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the former WWE manager shared his reservations about the Uncle Howdy gimmick. He explained it was nothing more than a homage to Bray Wyatt and that fans may not embrace it the way the Stamford-based promotion was hoping they would.

"I don't like it [Uncle Howdy gimmick]. What is it really...it's an homage to Bray, that's what it is. Just because WWE is doing good now, doesn't mean they'll make all the right decisions. This one may backfire in their face," said Dutch Mantell. [3:28 - 3:58]

Dutch Mantell wants Bo Dallas to return at WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024

On the latest edition of Sportskeeda's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell spoke about Bo Dallas possibly making an appearance as Uncle Howdy at King and Queen of the Ring 2024.

Mantell believes that Dallas could receive a good ovation from the Jeddah crowd and that it was a great spot to reintroduce him to the fans.

"Would be a great place to have it. Well, I don’t know. I think that would be the perfect spot to have him. Now, you got the video of it. You go it now. Take it back with you. It will be a big crowd, responsive crowd. He would look great in that big stadium. So we’ll see," said Mantell.

It's worth noting that Dallas' last match on TV also went down in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel 2019, where he participated in a multi-man tag team match.
