Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Cody Rhodes and Gunther facing each other. The two stars will battle it out for the Crown Jewel Championship.

At Bad Blood 2024, Triple H announced that this year's Crown Jewel Premium Live Event would feature the company's top champions facing each other. Cody Rhodes would face Gunther while Liv Morgan would lock horns with Nia Jax.

While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, Russo claimed the match would hurt the loser. He felt that although WWE wanted to pit its biggest champions, the champion that lost the encounter would look bad. The 63-year-old veteran did not understand why the Stamford-based company wanted Cody Rhodes or Gunther to lose a match at this stage of their title run.

"I guess what they're saying is we're pitting our two greatest wrestlers against each other to give you a Saudi Championship. But, I will say it again as I say it all the time, what does that do for the loser? Not only what does it do for the loser, why would you want to hurt a champion?" Vince Russo said. [9:05 - 9:30]
