Former WWE head writer Vince Russo spoke in detail about Michael Cole on commentary during WWE RAW.
Cole has become a veteran of WWE, working with the company since the late 90s. He has been a constant presence on the commentary table for more than two decades and is very well respected within the company. Recently, the commentator has been plying his trade on RAW, alongside Pat McAfee.
During this week's edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo claimed that Cole had been with the company for a long time and was probably influenced by Jim Ross. He felt the RAW announcer tried to emulate Good 'ol JR in his style but it was not working out for him.
"Bro listen, Michael Cole was there when I was there. But I think JR was a big, big, huge influence on Michael Cole. Having been around them both and listened to them for many, many years, sometimes I feel Michael tries to take from the JR playbook too much. Bro, that's never gonna work in your favor. There's only gonna be one JR." [From 51:51 onwards]
This week on RAW, Cole and Pat McAfee opened up the show, hyping the crowd for an exhilarating evening of wrestling action. The two announcers were once again at their best as their partnership has received plaudits for delivering some of the finest work in WWE since the days of Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross.
