WWE Superstar Jey Uso finally achieved a long-awaited milestone in his career by winning the Intercontinental Championship on RAW. However, wrestling legend Bully Ray is skeptical about the company's decision to award the title to the Samoan star at this juncture.
The September 23, 2024, edition of RAW featured The Yeet Master and Bron Breakker battling for the Intercontinental Title. Breakker won the championship from Sami Zayn at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland. Main Event Jey had never won singles gold in the company. However, that changed two nights ago, when he dethroned The Dog of WWE in a thrilling match.
On the latest episode of Busted Open, Bully Ray questioned WWE's decision to have The Yeet Master win the Intercontinental Championship on RAW. The 53-year-old believed that Jey Uso's popularity and connection with the audience made a title reign unnecessary, as his championship pursuit was seemingly more meaningful.
"I honestly don't know why they [WWE] pulled the trigger on that last night. Maybe, they just wanted to have a great moment on Monday Night RAW. Maybe they just wanted to shock the people. Loved it. Jey Uso, to me, was one of those guys that could continue to chase and never needed a championship because he was getting over with the people so organically, like the people really loved him. I didn't think he needed a championship to justify him. Like, am I paying money to see Jey Uso defend that Intercontinental Championship? He's one of those classic cases in my opinion where the chase means everything," Ray said.

While Bully Ray raised concerns over the timing of the decision, he ultimately appreciated the storyline potential it created. The Hall of Famer speculated that the creative team might have different plans for Bron Breakker.
"So yeah, we got the chase. It wasn't like a really long chase. He defeats Bron. Maybe they put it on Jey because they have different plans for Bron," Ray added. (From 00:55 to 01:43)
