A former WWE writer has revealed that he exchanged messages with Samantha Irvin following her shocking departure from the company. Vince Russo disclosed that Irvin thanked him for his kind words in the aftermath of her exit.

The former RAW ring announcer became a fan favorite in no time. She was already being hailed as one of the greatest announcers in WWE history, even though she had been working in that role for just over three years. As such, nobody was prepared for the shocking news of Irvin's departure from the company that she shared on October 21.

Soon after, details emerged about Samantha Irvin's decision to leave the promotion. The 35-year-old revealed that she was keen on doing more than just being a ring announcer in WWE, but her vision didn't match with the powers that be.

On the latest edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, Vince Russo revealed that he shared a few messages with Samantha Irvin recently. Russo also mentioned that if he were in control, he would have allowed Irvin to explore other roles in the company owing to her excellence as an announcer.

Fans drowned out a popular wrestler with 'She's a racist' chants recently

"I exchanged DMs with her yesterday because she thanked me for my comments. I said if I was working there when she was a ring announcer and she was so good at ring announcing and she'd come to me and say, 'Hey Vince, I would like to be a manager,' I would have made that happen," said Vince Russo. Teddy Long thinks Samantha Irvin is moving on to bigger things outside WWE

A few days ago on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Teddy Long said Samantha Irvin performed her role in WWE with aplomb. The former SmackDown general manager felt the 35-year-old would now move on to bigger and better things outside the Stamford-based promotion and the pro wrestling business.

"I think what's gonna really happen for her is she's good at her job, she's good at what she does, and I think she's moving on to bigger and better things, so congratulations."

Though fans would love to see her in AEW with her fiance Ricochet, he recently claimed that Samantha Irvin wasn't keen on joining the Tony Khan-led promotion.
