WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg believes John Cena could shock the whole world during his retirement tour in 2025. The Cenation Leader might face Cody Rhodes before hanging up his boots, as the latter is one of the biggest faces in the Stamford-based promotion.

Since Cena announced that he would be ending his career at the end of 2025, there have been several match-ups that people want to see before their childhood hero retires. Many fans want the 16-time World Champion to add another world title to his name by dethroning arguably the biggest face of the company, Cody Rhodes.

During an edition of the Cheap Heat podcast, Peter Rosenberg pitched the idea of John Cena turning heel for the first time ever in his WWE career.

Rosenberg said that a heel Cena could feud against a big babyface, Cody Rhodes, for a while and even dethrone the latter to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.

"How about they go on this run? It goes [on] for a long time. Heel Cena, he does beat him [Cody Rhodes], and then Cody wins it back at WrestleMania. That's what you do," he said.

Peter Rosenberg believes WWE should change John Cena's character just like they did with The Rock

During the same podcast, Peter Rosenberg said that WWE should turn John Cena into a bad guy, just like they did with The Rock at the start of 2024.

Rosenberg also mentioned that this could prove that a "part-timer" can also be a part of a major storyline.

"We can be inspired by what The Rock did last year and show that you can show up as a part-timer who has kind of graduated from the everyday roster and be part of a real consequential story. 'Cause that's what The Rock did last year. He was a consequential piece of a huge story, where he was willing to be the bad guy; well, however, he got there; he was the bad guy," he said.

It remains to be seen if the Triple H-led promotion will finally pull the trigger and turn John Cena into a heel during his retirement tour next year.
