WWE announcer Lilian Garcia opened up about overcoming serious medical issues on social media today. The veteran currently serves as the ring announcer on WWE RAW.

Lilian Garcia took to her Instagram account today to share a heartfelt video. She noted that she dealt with vocal cord damage due to mold and a gas leak in her house in the past, but has overcome it.

"One of the things that I wanted to share was the struggle that I had with my voice for such a long, long time. If some of you don't know, I had an attack from a house, from three different homes with mold. And it caused severe inflammation in my lungs. That inflammation, it was so severe that it caused havoc on my vocal cords and projection," she said.

The 58-year-old also advised everyone to do whatever they could to keep pushing through and chasing their dreams. She was also very thankful that she could overcome her struggles and reach where she is today.

"So now, being able to like get through all of that and being cured from that, and the amount of doctors that I went through and functional medicine, and lots and lots of prayer, to now being able to be back in the WWE, and now leading worship tomorrow. This is why this means so much to me, because it was almost stripped away," she added. [00:23 onwards]

Lilian Garcia comments on replacing WWE legend Howard Finkel

WWE RAW announcer Lilian Garcia recently discussed replacing Howard Finkel as ring announcer in 1999.

In an interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, the veteran announcer stated that she was shocked when she found out she would be the new ring announcer. Lilian Garcia added that the night was very intense, and she remembered being terrified.

"I remember the shock of finding out at 3:30 that afternoon that I was going to be replacing the legendary Howard Finkel that night. It was my very first day on the job. I hadn’t even been told I would be ring announcing that night until 3:30. For me, from 3:30 until the end of the show it was such a blur. The fact 20 minutes before I was live on the air they told me no cue cards. I remember terror if I could put it in one word. To know, that 14 million people were watching around the world and 20,000 in the arena. It was intense," she said. [H/T TV Insider]

Ring announcer Samantha Irvin surprisingly departed WWE earlier this year and Lilian Garcia was named as her replacement.
