Gunther has been dominant since capturing the World Heavyweight Title at WWE SummerSlam. However, WWE personality Peter Rosenberg suggested The Ring General must drop his championship to a returning superstar if they squared off.
John Cena will return on January 6 on RAW's premiere on Netflix to embark on his retirement tour. Many expect the Leader of the Cenation to pursue his 17th world championship before hanging up his boots by the end of next year. On his Cheap Heat podcast, Rosenberg discussed the possibility of the 47-year-old legend challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The WWE personality claimed Cena must end The Ring General's championship reign if the two potentially clashed at WrestleMania 41:
"If the first thing he's gonna do is have a big run with Gunther, I don't think he should lose the first thing he does. I think that kinda kills the run," he said. [35:23 - 35:29]

Peter Rosenberg wants John Cena to win the Men's Royal Rumble upon his WWE return
In a recent interview with ZASLOW SHOW 2.0, Peter Rosenberg expressed his desire to see John Cena win the Men's Royal Rumble match for the third time in his career in 2025.
The former 24/7 Champion stated that the Leader of the Cenation can then go on to defeat Gunther at WrestleMania 41:
"I want him to beat Gunther at WrestleMania. I've had enough of him losing. I'd love for him to win the Rumble. It would be his third. I think that ties him with [Stone Cold Steve Austin] for most Rumble wins. Then he could go [break] Ric Flair's record. I would love it," he said.
Gunther has overcome multiple challengers over the past four months. It will be interesting to see if he could beat Cena if the latter challenged him following his comeback.
