The WWE Universe has been buzzing with the idea of Cody Rhodes potentially turning heel during his current championship run. Now, The American Nightmare has spoken about the matter while cheekily taking a shot at The Rock.

Despite Dwayne Johnson throwing a wrench in Rhodes' WrestleMania XL storyline, the 39-year-old defied the "Bloodline Rules" with the help of legendary cameos from John Cena and The Undertaker to beat Roman Reigns and win the Undisputed Championship in Philadelphia.

Fans saw The American Nightmare as the ultimate babyface and The Final Boss as a top heel on the Road to WrestleMania. However, Rhodes has a different opinion of a WWE Superstar being a bad guy on TV.

On The Pivot Podcast, the 39-year-old champion, Cody Rhodes, discussed the possibility of a future heel turn. He explained his ideal villain persona as someone who actively undermined their coolness, discouraged merchandise sales, and inspired pure hatred from the audience.

"Today, people get canceled for everything...every hour somebody's getting canceled, then uncanceled whatever it may be. A heel's job is to get canceled, the heel's job is to not be cool, to not sell merch," he said.

The American Nightmare jokingly shared that it's hard to consider Dwayne Johnson a "heel" because he has been in a Disney movie. However, Rhodes praised the 52-year-old legend's work as a villain during his Final Boss run in The Bloodline.

"I think the term has gotten more identified with The Rock-types, that aren't really heels. This is the Rock, he's in a Disney movie, and he's beloved. Watching him is a prime example, you have to really go to the lengths to upset people and do something, and in his case, he upset them greatly because he was taking away a (WrestleMania) spot," Cody added. Cody Rhodes set for big match at WWE Money in the Bank 2024

After the 39-year-old star retained his WWE Championship against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle, Tama Tonga, Solo Sikoa, and Tonga Loa attacked him.

Later, Jacob Fatu debuted and joined forces with the rejuvenated version of the dominant faction. WWE has since announced that Cody Rhodes will team up with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to face The Bloodline on July 6 at Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada.

However, the company has yet to reveal which three members of the Solo Sikoa-led group will participate in the Six-Man Tag Team match. It remains to be seen if The Samoan Werewolf will make his in-ring debut at the PLE in Canada.
