Former WWE head writer Vince Russo spoke about Damian Priest and Gunther battling it out to end RAW. The two men were in an all-out brawl during the show.
The Ring General faced off against Finn Balor in the main event of RAW. Despite a valiant effort from The Prince, he fell victim to the Sleeper Hold. However, Gunther reapplied the hold after the bell had rung. This forced Damian Priest to ambush his challenger and lay him out to close the show.
During this week's episode of Legion of RAW, Vince Russo detailed that fans didn't know whom to cheer or boo during the brawl. He felt there was no clarity on whether Damian Priest was a heel of a babyface going into the match.
"As I'm watching the end of this show, I'm watching Gunther and Priest battle it out, and I'm watching the fans not knowing who to cheer and who to boo. I don't understand why they didn't make a decision. I don't know why they didn't make somebody a babyface and somebody a heel." [From 2:08 onwards]

Russo also stated that WWE's creative team had weeks to build up this feud and could have easily assigned heel-babyface dynamics to the stars. He felt that fans wouldn't care about this match-up any longer due to the poor buildup.
"We had so many weeks to make one the babyface and one the heel, but for whatever reason, they didn't make that commitment. Now there is a big match happening on SummerSlam where nobody really gives a cr*p about the outcome of it. I don't understand that type of booking." [From 3:45 onwards]
