As announced by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, WWE star Carmelo Hayes will be in action on next week's show. Interestingly, the company has subtly hinted at the arrival of a "new Superstar," a detail that was omitted from this week's blue brand.
On the December 6 episode of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes confronted Aldis. The former NXT Champion expressed his dissatisfaction and threatened a transfer to Monday Night RAW since Nick Aldis was not giving him attention.
The former NWA World Heavyweight Champion responded that he would welcome the opportunity to shift the burden of dealing with the 30-year-old star to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. The SmackDown GM concluded by stating that he has a specific opponent in mind for Carmelo Hayes.
WWE dropped a potential Easter egg, hinting at the arrival of a new talent for the blue brand. The title of an official YouTube video featuring the Modern Day Gladiator and Melo reads:
"Nick Aldis makes a match for Carmelo Hayes against a new Superstar."
Meanwhile, the description of the video segment featuring Nick Aldis and the former NXT Champion states:
"SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis reveals that Carmelo Hayes will face SmackDown's newest acquisition next week."

Monday Night RAW will debut on Netflix on January 6, 2025. The premiere episode of the red brand will air on the streaming platform from Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
WWE announced the opening of a transfer window, allowing superstars and champions to switch brands. As a result, Nick Aldis was seen meeting with the current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, potentially discussing a move to SmackDown.
It remains to be seen who the "new Superstar" will be to face Carmelo Hayes on next week's Friday Night SmackDown.
