WWE Hall of Famer explains why he doesn't want to be an on-screen character

WWE has been expanding its reach under the new regime and collaborating with different promotions. Meanwhile, NXT's creative head, Shawn Michaels, explained why he doesn't want to be an on-screen character for the white and gold brand.

A few years ago, Shawn Michaels started working behind the scenes for the developmental brand. Later, he became the creative head of NXT under Triple H's new WWE regime. The Heartbreak Kid left no stone unturned to deliver the best storylines and matches with the superstars of tomorrow.

However, the former WWE Champion never really took on any on-screen role for the brand and just made a few sporadic appearances when needed. During an appearance on Sports Net, the host asked Shawn Michaels if he plans to appear on TV and why he hasn't become an on-screen personality. Here's what HBK said:

"Honestly, NXT is about the future. I'm very happy and proud of the career that I got to have, but it is not about me anymore. So, we want to help where I can and from a television standpoint, there's somewhere that I can be helpful in that regard, and that's great. It's mostly about focusing on the future and the talent in NXT," Michaels said. (From 11:00 to 11:27)

Shawn Michaels congratulated Kelani Jordan after she made history at WWE NXT Battleground 2024

Earlier this year, the management announced that NXT would introduce a new championship for the women's division. It was later revealed that the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion will be crowned at NXT Battleground 2024 in a Six-Woman Ladder match.

After several qualifier matches, Kelani Jordan, Sol Ruca, Michin, Lash Legend, Jaida Parker, and Fallon Henley secured a spot for the Ladder match. In the end, Jordan became the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion.

Later, Shawn Michaels congratulated the star after her match. The Heartbreak Kid shared some kind words after Kelani Jordan made history at the event in Las Vegas.
