According to a WWE Hall of Famer, Carmelo Hayes did not have the best attitude in the pro wrestling business. The Hall of Famer also shared his take on Carmelo's upcoming match, claiming that he was likely going to lose.
The former NXT Champion is certainly one to look out for, considering his achievements at the relatively young age of 29. After signing with the main roster, his first match itself had him going up against Cody Rhodes, although he did not win. He is currently a participant in the King of the Ring tournament, where he is slated to face Randy Orton next on SmackDown.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long stated that he did not think Carmelo would win his match against The Viper.

"I ain't seen Carmelo Hayes. His attitude wasn't too good, you know, he never spoke to anybody, never talk much, so I don't really know anything about him. But I can tell you this, he ain't coming out on top over Randy Orton." [6:08 onwards]

Bill Apter also agrees with WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long
According the veteran journalist Bill Apter, there is practically no chance of Carmelo Hayes coming out on top after fighting Randy Orton.
On the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, Apter explained that although Carmelo is an impressive athlete, he is simply not yet at the level where he can emerge victorious against someone like WWE legend Randy Orton.
"The Apex Predator cannot lose against Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo Hayes has come out of NXT with a pedigree, so to say. He looks great, he works great in the ring. But that little piece that he needs to destroy and defeat his opponent is not there yet against somebody like Randy Orton. It's gonna be RKO out of nowhere." [6:29 onwards]
For now, only time will tell what Carmelo Hayes' plan is for the upcoming WWE King of the Ring match.
