Netflix recently announced that a docuseries about the former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, was to be released this month, taking many by surprise. According to a veteran, the Stamford-based promotion itself may have a role in the release of the show.

McMahon's name has been essentially detached from the company at this point, with Triple H fully taking control of the creative process and other responsibilities. It is also apparent that the product seemingly does not want to be associated with the controversial former Chairman any longer. However, Vince Russo thinks that WWE may still have a hand in the release of the upcoming docuseries.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws, the former WWE head writer stated that the red brand moving to the popular streaming website, Netflix and the same platform coming out with a docuseries on the controversial former boss of the Stamford-based promotion seemed too much of a coincidence.

"This documentary is coming out of Netflix. The WWE RAW is going on Netflix. Now is this an intentional hit piece to let people know 'Listen they are coming over to Netflix, but this guy bro, this guy don't have anything to do with this company anymore.' Think about that bro, they are gonna play this very very controversial documentary on the same network that RAW is gonna start," he said. [2:17 onwards]

Vince Russo is uneasy about how both WWE RAW and the Vince McMahon docuseries will be on Netflix

According to Vince Russo, the Stamford-based promotion was happy to have the docuseries about Vince McMahon be released so that audiences understand his current disassociation with the product.

Adding to his comments on The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo thought the docuseries would be a hit. He noted that the promotion probably wanted to make it clear that they were not associated with the controversial figure any longer. Russo admitted he still found it odd that both RAW and the documentary would be available on the same platform.

"I think it's gonna be a hit piece. I think with them [WWE] going over to Netflix they wanna make it clear, this man is no longer a part of this company. That's what I think. It's just. it's really weird bro. They are gonna have both these things on the same network," he said. [3:42 onwards]

It remains to be seen how the docuseries on the former head honcho of the global juggernaut will be received by fans later this month, upon its release on September 25.
