Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are two of the most popular stars in the history of this business. They were often compared to each other until WWE pitted them in singles action at WrestleMania XX.
In a recent edition of Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, Gerald Brisco and JBL were asked to choose between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. Both went with the former Universal Champion, attributing their decision to The Beast Incarnate's overall wrestling abilities.
"Oh, man, that's one of the easiest comparisons there. If you look at longevity, I mean, you got to go with the with The Beast. I mean, the versatility of Brock Lesnar far exceeds (Goldberg) and there's no blast to Goldberg because he was the top of his game too. But longevity-wise, I got to go with the Beast," said Brisco. JBL chimed in by saying that while Goldberg was the only homegrown WCW star to give WWE stiff competition during the Attitude Era, he picked Lesnar because of their past familiarity as well as The Beast's in-ring IQ.
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
"Right, I got to go with The Beast. Also, Goldberg is the one star that WCW created that really hurt us. He was man, he was on fire. I mean, people don't realize how over he was back in the '90s. Goldberg was incredibly over. But I got to go with Brock Lesnar. I'm with Gerald. I got to ride with Brock. I got to wrestle Brock, and I know Brock's so much better. I got to call most of his matches. So I'm going with The Beast." [From 10:19 onwards]
Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE television since SummerSlam 2023, when he capped off his trilogy with Cody Rhodes in stunning fashion. As for Goldberg, the Hall of Fame is reportedly set to wrestle his farewell match this year. It remains to be seen if fans will see the two superstars share the squared circle one more time.
