Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon's Netflix docuseries recently caused quite a buzz in the wrestling world, with different reactions from wrestling fans and general audiences. Hall of Famer Teddy Long recently talked about the reason for this.
While the Mr. McMahon docuseries was structured to present a chronological account of Vince McMahon's life, it did include quite a peek into the workings of the wrestling industry. As such, viewers who were not quite wrestling fans got to watch something very new to them, which may have piqued their interest more than an average fan.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long stated:
"What you gotta understand, a lot of people that are not like you and I. They are not smart to the business. So a lot of this stuff they've seen was maybe brand new to 'em; maybe they saw it but still didn't understand. You know you gotta be in this to know what this is all about. You can't be in this no 5 or 6-7 years either. You don't learn even then."

The WWE Hall of Famer further added:
"It takes a moment. And I am just so glad that I was blessed to stay in it a long, long time to really learn the game. So, like I said, what's probably that stinks to us is probably good to other people." [5:40 - 6:20]
Another WWE veteran also commented on Vince McMahon's docuseries on Netflix
According to Vince Russo, WWE decided the time of release for Vince McMahon's docuseries to achieve a specific goal.
Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws, the former Head writer said that the docuseries would clarify that Vince McMahon was no longer associated with WWE.
"I think what the goal is gonna be by the end of this is 'Vince McMahon is no longer a part of this company, he is no longer involved in it, it is a new day, this is a new beginning...' I think that's what they are going to do. I don't think they are gonna go out of their way to beat him up, but I do believe they're gonna sever all ties. This is a new company, a new start, a new beginning on Netflix. And I think they feel they needed to make that separation before the show starts."
As of now, it remains to be seen how the lawsuit against Vince McMahon will conclude.
