Mark Henry recently departed AEW after three years with the company as a coach and commentator. In an exclusive interview, the WWE Hall of Famer gave an update on what he plans to do next outside of the wrestling business.

A two-time Olympian, Henry made his name in powerlifting before joining WWE in 1996. The 53-year-old won several titles during his in-ring career, including the World Heavyweight Championship. He was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor, Bill Apter, Henry opened up about his Strong Kids initiative to help children develop not only physically but also mentally, he also noted the importance of discipline.

"I needed time to focus some attention on Mark Henry Strong Kids. My lovechild, if you will, to the world, trying to teach kids how to not only get stronger physically, but get stronger mentally and emotionally, and explain to them how to be strong in willpower and discipline and also teach them how to compete. So, Mark Henry Strong Kids is number one," he said [1:50 – 2:27]

Why Mark Henry is keen to help the younger generation

This summer, Mark Henry is collaborating with organizations including the National Urban League and the Boys & Girls Club. He hopes to create a legacy outside the world of sports and entertainment by educating children at summer camp events.

The WWE legend also clarified that he is not interested in earning extra money or becoming more famous than he already was and it was his love for children and getting older that prompted him to try and leave behind a better place.

"I just always had love for kids in general and teaching them what I've learned along the way because, to be a realist, the men in my family start shaking out around 70 years old, so just turning 53 a couple of days ago, so I wanna do as much as I can for headstone material," Henry continued. "I'm not looking for money, I'm not looking for fame, I'm looking for statues and to be remembered." [3:17 – 4:06]

Henry added that while it is "cool" to be a successful athlete and wrestler, he also wants to be known for helping children.
