Cody Rhodes has been one of WWE's top babyfaces since returning to the company in 2022. In a recent podcast episode, former WCW executive Eric Bischoff gave his thoughts on The American Nightmare possibly performing as a bad guy.

On April 7, Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. While the 38-year-old has retained the support of most WWE fans since the event, some want to see him turn heel.

Bischoff said on 83 Weeks that he plans to contact Rhodes to suggest an idea if he ever undergoes a drastic character transformation:

"I almost texted Cody this the other day. In fact, I will. Cody, if you're listening to this, if there's ever a conversation about you turning heel that starts to get a little bit real, give me 20 minutes. Before you make a decision, give me 20 minutes just to add a little something something to make it special." [0:46 – 1:10]

Rhodes spoke about turning heel during an interview on Rosenberg Wrestling after WrestleMania XL. He did not rule out becoming a bad guy one day but said he cannot see it happening based on his WWE contract length.

Eric Bischoff on Cody Rhodes' babyface run

Although Cody Rhodes receives positive crowd reactions wherever he goes, Eric Bischoff is unsure how long the fan support will last.

The WWE Hall of Famer added that the days of traditional babyfaces like Hulk Hogan and John Cena are a thing of the past:

"Right now Cody is in the honeymoon phase of his babyface run, and that could be a long honeymoon. It could last a couple of years. I don't think it will. I think the audience demands evolution quicker. I think the days of a Hulk Hogan babyface or even a John Cena babyface, I just don't think that opportunity exists in today's television environment," Bischoff said. [2:11 – 2:41]

Hogan was WWE's marquee attraction in the early days of WrestleMania in the 1980s. Two decades later, Cena cemented his status as the company's top good guy in the mid-2000s.
