WWE is set to hold the 2024 Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event on November 30 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. A recently returned legend has confirmed her absence from the show.
Following the surprising announcement of Samantha Irvin's departure from the Stamford-based promotion last month, legendary ring announcer Lilian Garcia returned to WWE after several years of absence. She has since been the ring announcer on Monday Night RAW. A fan recently commented on an Instagram post of hers expressing his excitement about seeing the 58-year-old announce at Survivor Series: WarGames this year.
Garcia responded to the comment, revealing that she was not scheduled to work at the premium live event. Meanwhile, she extended her support for SmackDown ring announcer Alicia Taylor, who would be at Survivor Series: WarGames.
"Thx but I'm not scheduled to announce Survivor Series. But Alicia will kill it!! 😉🎤🔥," she wrote.
Ex-WWE head writer thinks Lilian Garcia could have a tough time following her return
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, former WWE head writer Vince Russo discussed with host Dr. Chris Featherstone Lilian Garcia's return to replace Samantha Irvin.
Russo pointed out that going back on the road could be tough for the legendary ring announcer at the age of 58.
"She [Lilian Garcia] is a pro; no doubt about it, bro. It's hard for me because when I saw her going back (...) I think she's 58 now. Bro, the road ain't easy when you get older, man. It's just not easy. And that's the first thing I think about. But maybe if she's just doing RAW, it won't be that bad. But the older you get, the tougher it is to be on the road," he said. Following her return, Garcia sent a heartfelt message to the fans, thanking them for welcoming her back.
