WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes had an impressive 2024 that saw him win his first singles title since returning to the Stamford-based company in 2022. The American Nightmare's high-stakes match with a popular star has also been chosen as the match of the year.
The 39-year-old challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Bloodline Rules match at Night Two of WrestleMania XL. The highly entertaining contest, featuring appearances from John Cena, The Rock, and The Undertaker, ended with Rhodes securing the win to break The Head of the Table's historic 1316 days title reign.
Over the past few days, WWE conducted polls on its official YouTube channel to determine the 2024 Match of the Year. In the final round, Rhodes vs. Reigns at The Show of Shows was up against the recent Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. The final result revealed that the WrestleMania contest was the overwhelming favorite, with 71% of the votes.

WWE Hall of Famer predicts Cody Rhodes will wrestle at the RAW Netflix premiere
Cody Rhodes is being advertised for RAW's Netflix Premiere. Wrestling veteran Eric Bischoff believes the 39-year-old would face Kevin Owens on the show.
Rhodes and KO locked horns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event. Although The American Nightmare retained the title after a controversial match, he had to be stretchered out of the building after a frustrated Owens took him out with a Package Piledriver. The Prizefighter left the squared circle with the Winged Eagle Title.
While speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff predicted the two could wrestle another match on the red brand's Netflix debut. The 69-year-old feared the feud could lose momentum if the wrestling promotion waited longer. The veteran believes RAW's Netflix Premiere would be the perfect stage for the high-stakes contest.
"I think Netflix. Too much other business needs to be done before the end of January. And I think if they're going to do the rematch, I think they set it up perfectly here. I think if you waited too long, it would lose momentum. I would keep the gas on it, keep the momentum on it, keep the focus on it. But I would deliver it definitely on Netflix," he said.
